"The construction of the missing section on Highway 25 connecting Henri Bourassa Blvd to Highway 440, including a new bridge over the Rivière des Prairies, is crucial to the quality of life and ongoing development of the entire eastern region of Greater Montreal. By joining political forces, we hope to deliver a clear message about the need for and validity of this project, which we have been demanding for more than 35 years," said Laval's Mayor, Gilles Vaillancourt, at the announcement of the creation of the Regroupement pour l'autoroute et le pont de la 25. This association of 14 municipalities on Montreal's North Shore, home to more than 750,000 people, has a mission to spur the public to action and to raise awareness of the tangible benefits of completing Highway 25. To do so, it is launching an electronic petition, accessible at www.highway25petition.com. At this site, people can sign a petition demanding the Quebec government to take immediate action to authorize the completion of Highway 25. It will be supported by a billboard campaign using the slogan "Le Pont de la 25 faut que ça débloque."
