We are here this evening to honor
a distinguished individual whose achievement in his respective field of
work must be recognized, said Mr. Luciano D’Ignazio, President of the
CIBPA, naming Mr. Steve Galluccio Personality of the Year 2003.Born
and raised in Montreal's Little Italy, and a first generation
Italian-Canadian himself, He is a three-time Gemini Award winning writer
who's career started in Montreal's vibrant underground theatre scene.
Author of eight plays, he burst into "legit" theatre in 2000
with his breakthrough play, "Mambo Italiano" which was
translated into French by Michel Tremblay. An astounding hit in both
French and English; the play has toured Quebec in French, played Toronto
in English and is slated for production in other major cities across
Canada within the next two years. He co-wrote the screen adaptation for
Mambo Italiano which recently opened in screens across North America,
(grossing 6 million dollars thus making more money than any
English-language movie since "Porky's" back in 1981) and was
sold to over 30 countries. He just finished writing all the episodes of
the first season of a television series which he co-created, "Ciao
Bella". The show is in production and will air on both the CBC and
Radio-Canada. He has just started writing the show's second season and has
just signed on to write another screenplay for the producers of
"Mambo Italiano" the movie. In the photo we see from left Me.
